Introducing John Power
My name is John and for the past 12 years I've been working at The Canberra Body Clinic in Tuggeranong. Now I'm also doing mobile remedial massage all throughout Canberra and surrounding regions.
I love helping clients with conditions like disc bulges, chronic headaches, shoulders issues such as bursitis or impingement issues. I also work frequently with Sporting injuries like acl strains, runners knee and hip dysfunction.

What to expect from your first booking

upon arrival, I will prepare my massage table and get everything ready.

you will be asked to complete a Clinical history form and we'll discuss treatment goals.

Throughout the massage, Connective tissue issues, fascia restrictions or any issues found may be explained to offer a better understanding on the possible cause of the issue.

treatment plans afterwards can consist of stretching and strengthening exercise routines to assist in resolving the issue longer term. ​​
"WHy 2 hours?" I find sometimes 1 hour isn't enough. Plus we can also massage 2 people for 1 hour each which has also been a very popular choice for couples.

Combining dry needling and massage together
Ever wondered how dry needling works?
When you get a cut or mild puncture wound such as from a dry needle. Your body starts a natural healing process. Blood vessels in the area constrict slowing down bleeding, platelets form a clot to seal the wound and White blood cells rush to the area
These white blood cells help to remove any damaged (tight) muscle tissue and clean up the area. The wound will start to heal with new skin cells growing in to replace the damaged (tight) muscle tissue. The healing process may cause very mild swelling, redness,
Simply that is how dry needling works and using it with remedial massage it is a very powerful tool at our deposal.
What is sports tape?
There's 3 main types of tape. Kinesio tape, Rock tape and traditional strapping tape. So what is the difference between them?
Strapping tape is commonly used in sports to give more structural stability to ankles and shoulders. It is done by laying down layer upon layer of tape around a joint, reducing its mobility giving to more structure.

Rock tape is used for similar but can also help with contracting and releasing muscles if applied on a stretch along that muscle group. Perfect for supporting back pain from recent sprain or more serious issues such as a disc bulge.
Kinesio tape is a lighter and thinner tape. It's main function is to help contract and assist muscle activation. Kinesio tape is amazing for reducing bruising and whiplash symptoms.
Frequently Asked Questions
What about health fund claiming?
Most common question, Each health fund has their own official stance on accepting mobile massage claims. Some say no, some say yes. That being said I've only come across 1 or 2 clients over the years who have mentioned to me that they weren't able to claim with their heath funds. Ask your provider if you have any concerns on this matter before booking.
​What kind of space do I need ready for my remedial massage appointment?
As long as we can make a space to set up my table its perfectly okay if you have a bit of mess around. I'm not here to judge you, I understand being in chronic pain can easily reduce motivation to clean.
I am curious about your pricing for your treatments?
So I have always tried to make the price as low as I can while being fair and also respecting my years of experience. My only extra cost is travel time. There's no clinical rental fee or other staff that need paying. Its just me. SO I can keep prices low and affordable to most people who need the treatment most. I do have group options so if the prices are still an issue for you. invite some friends around, everybody can get a massage. then the travel fee can be shared between everyone. it is a business but I still want to help. You have 2 hour massage appointments available can you explain that further?
As explained in my introduction video. I've regularly found a single hour isn't enough for everyone. Sometimes clients have numerous issues they want solved so having that extra time has been a huge success. It also allows the option of me treating a second person with that extra hour which has lead to it being my most popular treatment option.
Do I need to pay for service in advanced and put my credit card into your system?
No you don't need to, Even though my site is very secure I also have Paypal installed. You can select "cash Payment" while making your booking. So you can easily pay after the treatment with cash, pay ID, direct bank transfer. I have a square system so you can tap your card and pay that way if preferred.
I have young children and pets at the house could that be an issue during my appointment?
As a father to a young child myself I completely understand trying to manage going out with a child. I am perfectly okay having your children around during the treatment if you'd like to put a movie on or anything you need It's perfectly okay, sometimes if you need a short break half way through the massage to help them with something, that's okay. New parents would be a large portion of my client base and I love that I can help.
Is there a cancellation fee involved if I have to cancel?
No fee involved, we can just move it to a better time. Just try to give me enough notice that I'm not currently in the car driving towards your place. I do have more detail on this on my Cancellation Policy page. 100% of clients who have paid for treatments have gotten their treatment or been refunded when follow up treatment time hasn't been possible.
Is pregnancy massage available?
In the last 1 0 years I've been treating women at every stage of their pregnancy. You are more then welcome booking at Remedial2You for your massage needs. I am happy to help
I've see you're in Tuggeranong, how far can you come out for mobile massage treatments?
Anything over 40 minutes of driving is my limit. I don't like charging a travel fee because I believe in a way it is unfair but the time of travel has to be factored into my business. I am always welcoming clients from all areas where I'm needed. If unsure please enquire if your location is suitable.
I've seen you in the past at the Canberra body clinic, am I still able to have you come to me?
I have had discussions on this topic at the clinic and it is acceptable as long as I am not directly trying to poach business, which I have not, I love working there and I wish to continue to work there as well as my mobile business. I do understand however when I am be super busy and my regular clients are unable to get a booking with me there it can be an issue so that circumstance is also acceptable.
